What are the differences between Androids and Windows?

To compare Androids and Windows in terms of its longest time manufactured, we can say that Windows was the first and foremost operating in the technology industry. Windows was first released in 20th Nov 1985, over 30 years before Androids was developed. windows continued to evolve to become better until its latest update on 31st August 2016, while Androids updated latest on 22nd August 2016.

Even though Windows has been in the industry for years, the society prefers more to Androids as they feel it suits them. While Windows user interface in graphical (Metro UI). In Windows, after the lock screen there is a display of resizeable live tiles which have contains snippets of various apps contained in the phone. With this, you are able to know the this that have to be done. However, for Windows it may seem to compact for the main home screen to contain various application. The Android provides a better view in which, they show only certain apps on the home screen.

Android as open source obtain updates from many parties , while Windows is more restricted to having updates by Microsoft itself.

Androids collection of applications are all developed from an open source of developers while Windows application are limited by tie-up companies and Microsoft. Androids application that is provided ranges in term of availability for types of smartphone and. Windows have a solid built-in social media and an integrated hub which is very smooth and fluid. Users will be able to get updates, notifications and status updates from application such as Facebook, Twitter and Friendster via People's Hub.

Android is an open source software while Windows is a closed source. android as open source software allows developer to develop game, apps and content. they are also available in the Google Play Store. Windows being a closed source, its applications, content and games are all developed by Microsoft or companies that they approve. The applications in their Window App store are also limited as they restrict certain applications.
  • NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS
Androids with its many developers has millions of application in its Google Play store, while Windows have Limited number of applications in its Windows App store. The Windows App store restrict the apps in their marketplace. They try to provide a superior and better apps. It is also a consistent, gorgeous and minimalist store.
  • FEATURES
Windows comes free with Office, OneNote which are integrated with Onedrive. Based on users review, there is no noticeably lag found when using Windows. Android have features such as memory management, where the device automatically suspends an inactive operation to saves the power or battery. It also provides a user interface which is easy and commonly known among its user.

  • CHOICES
Android has a wide range of choices in term of smartphones. They have different types of smartphones, that are affordable and in our budget. Examples are Samsung, Sony, and HTC. Windows also have many choices with budget conscious but, the number of brands is limited to Nokia and certain personal computer (PC). The choices are all between different types of Nokia smartphones, Some users might find it as a small range of choices. However, if users are looking for PC, Windows OS is most commonly used OS besides Mac OS and Linux Os.

What is Windows?

Based on research, Windows is a software developed by Microsoft Corporation. Microsoft Windows is the most popular and common operating system used by many users worldwide. Operating systems which function to do perform all basic task by the computer such as recognizing input by mouse or by keyboard and keeps track of all the files on the computer.

Definition Windows
Windows is a specific type of operating system. other operating system are Mac OS and Linux OS. Windows have many types of operating system under them. Some of them are Windows NT, Windows Embedded and Windows Phone. Users all around the world needed a medium to communicate with one another. Therefore, Windows was created to fulfill the interest of society in the graphical user interface. This graphical user interface not only was for mobile devices but also for personal computers. Windows dominated in the worlds Personal Computer (PC) a lot by more than 90% in the world. Windows was also a part of mobile devices such as smartphone. As an example, Nokia company uses Windows as a graphical user interface.

Windows come in many versions. The latest version (2016) is Windows 10. Smartphones, tablets, embedded and PC's are all the devices that utilize the latest version.the earliest version windows was Windows 1.0. this version was not a complete operating system and just assisting MS-DOS. MS-DOS, is functions such as calculator, calendar, card file, clipboard viewer, clock, control pad, notepad and Paint. Later on, it improved to Windows 2.0 which was at the top market that time. it was the most popular than its predecessor. After that, Windows 3.0 was launched and was a success for the company.

Latest Update 
In 2014, the latest version of Windows is Windows 10. This is a successor from Windows 8.1. This new version is fully improved and updated to suit the current users needs. The updates include, new icons, rright click context menus, default printer management and other features that ease the user interface.

What is Android?

Android is a type of mobile operating system. This means that Android OS is mainly used in smartphones. However, with the technology advancement, Android watches and other devices beside smartphones utilize Android OS. This system is solely based on touch gestures, in which requires a direct user interface allowing it to perform its functions well. As for the history, Android was initially released 8 years ago on September 23, 2007. It was then updated up till the latest date, August 22, 2016.


ANDROID AS AN OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE


Android is an open source type of software, which means that the code is freely available under the Apache License for modification and distribution by device manufacturers, wireless carriers and enthusiast developers. As the Android is an open source software, manufacturers can modify the operating system to suit their respective needs and smartphone requirement. with this ability, they also find it cheap and the best alternative in developing their own operating system or hiring a software company to develop it. Other than that, it also allows users to develop apps, content and games as long as it get approval from the authorities. This function, at the same time increases the number of Android users. this is known as one of their strategies in attracting millions of its users.

HISTORY OF ANDROID

The making of Android originally was unplanned as they were wanting to create an OS for digital cameras. However, these people discovered that they could make something even better. Thus, the invention of Android was made. The founders of Android were Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Nich Sears and Chris White. Android at first was a system developed and designed by these group of friends known as Android Inc funded by google. Later on, Google then purchased the system allowing it to evolve massively through out the world. On November 5th 2007, at the Open Handset Alliance, all technology companies such as HTC, Sony and Samsung, wireless carieers such as Sprint Nextel and T-mobile, chipset makers such as Qualcomm and Texas Instrument gathered up to set up an open standard for all mobile devices. that is the reason why now, Android mobile OS is the most common and popular Operating system used in smartphones. Based on the history of Androids, the first device running Android system was the HTC Dream which was released on October 22nd 2008.

Interface

  • At the top of the screen, there is a status bar in which it provides its user with notification, information on the device and its connectivity. Users can also, customize the selected icons they prefer on the status bar to ease them from going through the homepage.
  • Android is mainly a touch gesture type of system which are pinching, sliding, tapping and swiping along with a virtual keyboard. 
  • Android devices boot to homescreen. Typical homescreen contains widgets that display the weather forecast or the users email inbox while app icons which launches the app when touched.
  • Android also have third party apps in which allows users to re-theme their homescreen with apps from Google Play Store. Users can also mimic the Windows phone theme if wanted.

MEMORY MANAGEMENT
  • Androids have function where when an application is not used, it will suspend the operation from consuming power (not closed) and can be immediately open if needed.
  • This does not consume the battery or CPU resources.
  • Android also manages the applications stored in the memory automatically.
  • When the device is running low on power, the applications will automatically begin invisibly and closing all inactive processes.
